1972 dodge dart bright headlights5/2/2024 I am not familiar with the 16s as that is when the dart community started dying and I had no local friends with 16s to do HID installs and do any sort of testing on them. However, it should not turn them off entirely. Which trip the cars error system because while the system might be happy a majority of the time, if it drops below that threshold for even a half a second, it will trip the error. I think this is due to the voltage or current drop or lower values due to the cold weather. When the cold weather comes around, the Low Beam Headlight Out, appears a lot on HID and LED systems. It's possible now they are similar harnesses, but wired a bit differently. My friend went to do Halos, bought the after market headlights and they were HID, and we didn't see any way to connect them to the car. The main power harness to the car was different from that came from the headlight, so unless something changed, I really don't know how to comment on that. At least the 2013-2015 ones had no connectors to make them swappable. To my understanding is the two had entirely different wiring harnesses. OH wait, you said you had halogen headlamps and replaced with HID headlamps? How do those connectors even work?! That honestly might be one of the issues. My bio below goes to a link to one of the top rated LED systems at the time vs a standard 35W HID system in the halogen projectors, and it just looks night and day.Īnyways, so this only is happening to your car after installing the LED headlights? I have tested and tried many LED systems and they just are not as good as HID (IMHO). My honest suggestion is you should go back to HID. Halogen Headlight lamps were replaced with hid lamps and i am using D3s Led's.Ĭlick to expand.Idk how the car handles LEDs when it's the D3S HID system. (I got a second set and tried them too, apparently, they don't actually work with the dart).Īfter the lights went off I checked the plug with a multimeter and voltage was zero. (Scary as f**k)Ĭar always tells me headlights are out but every time I try to use the connectors that remove the errors, the headlights won't power on at all. It sometimes happens right after I turn on the car, then sometimes a minute down the road. After the car turns on it shuts off.Īnother weird part, the headlights don't turn off at the same time, they turn off one at a time, one right after the other. Now here's the weird part, If the cars off, I can turn on the headlights and they stay on just fine. My current workaround at the moment is to turn on the car at 4 am and let it idle till 4:30 am. ![]() I work at 5 am and usually head out the door at 4:30 am. It's not just a recent issue, It happened last winter too. I feel like it happens more often when it's cold and humid. It only seems to do it in cold weather because summer is just fine.
